Shopmobility
Free or low-cost loan of wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters in town centres, shopping centres and some transport hubs.

How it works
Shopmobility schemes lend mobility equipment for the day so you can get around a town or shopping centre. Most are based in or next to a car park. Many are free or ask for a small annual registration fee.
What to check before you go
- Opening hours, which are often shorter than the shops around them.
- Whether you need to book, and how far ahead.
- What identification you need to register, and whether a deposit is required.
- Whether they have the equipment you need: manual wheelchair, powered wheelchair, class 2 scooter, or a larger-capacity scooter.
- Whether training is given on first use, and whether a companion is required.
Finding a scheme
Search your town or shopping centre name with 'Shopmobility', or ask the centre management desk. Not every scheme is part of a national network, so local enquiry is often the fastest route.
