Demonstration content. I didn't know I could ask for my own carer's assessment, separate from my mum's care needs assessment, until a support worker mentioned it.
The assessment looked at how caring affected my own work, sleep and health, and led to a small direct payment for respite.
Carer's assessments work differently across the UK nations, so this describes my council's process only.
